Vietnam Museum of Ethnology ( Bao Tang Dan Toc Hoc Viet Nam) is located on Nguyen Van Huyen Street, about 8 km from the center of Hanoi. The architecture
The museum consists of three main galleries:
1.The Trong Dong exhibition building: It was designed by the architect Ha Duc Linh, a member of the Tay ethnic group, in the shape of a Dong Son drum – a bronze drum fabricated by the Dong Son culture in the Red River Delta of northern Vietnam, and the interior architecture was designed by the French architect Véronique Dollfus with an area of 2500m2. This area is a permanent display space introduces 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam spread over two floors of the whole house. Vietnam’s Museum of Ethnology Highlights
The Museum preserves and displays many cultural objects of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, including 15,000 artifacts, 42,000 color photos, 2,190 positive films and other multi-media. These objects are classified according to various criteria. It’s interesting that visitors can expect to see a variety of daily items relating to farm tools, fishing gear, household appliances, musical instruments, religious beliefs, weddings, funeral ceremonies and many other spiritual and social activities.
The outdoor area presents a wide range of traditional homes of some ethnic minorities in Vietnam such as a Tay stilt house, a Viet hose or a Giarai collective tomb. In front of the Vietnamese house, there are water puppet performances by the local puppets from different villages on Saturday and Sunday.
